A Relaxing Break at holidaypark ROASTWORKS

Gourmet

My stroll to Naegi Castle Ruins turned into a bit of a hike, and I was pretty wiped out. So, after returning the car and waiting for my train, I was looking for a spot to relax for a bit, and that’s how I found holidaypark ROASTWORKS.

holidaypark ROASTWORKS, a cafe and co-working space located in Nakatsugawa-juku on the Nakasendo trail. I was really feeling the heat, but the inviting atmosphere I saw from outside just drew me right in.

They had several kinds of muffins, and they all looked so delicious it was hard to choose! But I went with the apple, cinnamon, and cream cheese muffin. Since it was so hot, I ordered an iced coffee, and the “Ena-san Blend” caught my eye, so I picked that one. They warmed up the muffin for me, and the classic combo of apple and cinnamon, plus the rich cream cheese, was just divine. The coffee was a crisp, refreshing blend with low bitterness, a perfect match for the muffin.

I stayed for a leisurely hour or so, and it was a quiet cafe with a really nice vibe. It seemed like the second floor was a co-working space, and I thought it would be pretty cool to work from a place like this if I ever get the chance.

Compared to other famous post towns on the Nakasendo such as Magome-juku, Tsumago-juku, and Narai-juku, Nakatsugawa-juku is smaller and has fewer tourists. This means you can enjoy a leisurely stroll through its quiet streets, which I highly recommend.
