Meniere disease

It started with sudden tinnitus two months ago. Learning then that Meniere's disease is incurable, combined with the memory of being confined to a wheelchair for over a week, unable to stand due to dizziness and nausea, has left me with a deep anxiety about a possible recurrence.

The sudden ringing in my left ear started while I was taking a breather in Hamamatsu at night. A high-pitched ringing... I thought it might be stress, but it just wouldn't stop. With work I couldn't miss over the next two days, the anxiety kept me awake. Could this be a Meniere's relapse? I'm in a bit of a spot.

Half a year has passed since Meniere's disease started. Luckily, I haven't had any dizzy spells strong enough to make me collapse. However, knowing it's a disease prone to recurrence and that its cause is unknown, I always have this lingering worry in the back of my mind: "What if a dizzy spell strikes..."

It all started with an unusual kind of dizziness. As I’ve written here before, the whole thing began with vertigo in a situation I’d never experienced. After just a small drink, I felt strangely tipsy and lay down, only to be hit by intense spinning vertigo and vomiting.

VEMP (Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potential) Testing... I had to go back last week for this dizziness check-up. It measures muscle potentials triggered by stimulating the otolith organs with sound or vibration.

I thought treatment was going smoothly, but... Since being hospitalized on Saturday, I've been receiving steroids and medication for dizziness and nausea. While things settled down over the weekend, I barely slept due to side effects, and this morning my hearing issues flared up again.
