Sweets That Are Just Too Delicious!
After I got my eBike, I cycled around Lake Hamana a few times, just enjoying the ride. By chance, I stumbled upon a JA Mikkabi local specialty direct sales store. The mandarins themselves were cheap and tasty, but all the products made with Mikkabi mandarins were so incredibly delicious! Ever since, I’ve found myself making the almost 30-kilometer trip just to cycle there (lol). Once I arrived, it was already getting pretty hot, so my first stop was for Mikkabi mandarin soft-serve ice cream. I don’t think you see this combination very often, but the refreshing tartness and aroma of the mandarins perfectly match the soft-serve. Ahh, I want to eat it again!

This “creative confection” mimics the design of a Mikkabi mandarin cardboard box. It’s a small, cute-looking treat with high fidelity to the original design. Inside, there’s white bean paste, and when you pop it in your mouth, you get a soft, fluffy texture along with a refreshing hint of mandarin aroma – a truly elegant sweet. It’s a go-to item for souvenirs.

“Mika-chan’s Snack” is a mandarin orange jelly bursting with juice. It’s incredibly delicious as is, but I often eat it frozen. Even when frozen, it doesn’t get rock hard; it retains a slightly soft, gooey texture. That, combined with the rich sweetness of the mandarin, makes it irresistibly tasty. The picture is after I’ve already eaten more than half, and even though the package contains a good amount, it disappears so quickly that I frequently find myself going to buy more.

Homemade mandarin orange jam. I’ve bought this several times already, and it’s interesting how the consistency is a bit different each time. Unlike marmalade, it doesn’t contain any peel (I think), using only the fruit pulp. The first time I bought it, it was thick and rich, and eating it with Greek yogurt was so exquisite that it disappeared in no time, prompting another trip to buy more. But that time, the viscosity was lower. I prefer the thicker kind, but either way, this flavor is just irresistible.

Mikkabi mandarin caramel. My kid said it was “dry” and didn’t like it much, but for me, it’s delicious, filling your mouth with the refreshing sweetness and aroma of mandarins. I don’t devour these as much as the other products I mentioned, so I don’t buy them repeatedly, but it’s still a favorite item.
