A Chat with Mr. Y
After a meeting the other day, Mr. Y casually said to me, “Hey thmiyake, why don’t you donate to the University of Tokyo?” That reminded me of my friend Kosa, who donated a significant amount to support the university—I always thought that was so impressive. So, taking Mr. Y’s advice to heart, I got curious and started looking into the University of Tokyo Foundation. Turns out, there are so many different projects you can support, and just browsing through them was actually a lot of fun.
Found the CanSat Project!
Mr. Y told me it’s best to look for something while wondering, “I wonder if this will grow into something big in the future?” I also found myself getting caught up in the enthusiasm behind each project. As I was browsing, I came across Professor Nakasuka’s CanSat project and the 100th Anniversary Project of the Department of Aeronautics. I felt like donating to the place that helped me out in the past would be the best move. I debated which one to pick—or maybe both? But since this won’t be a one-time thing, I decided to start by donating 300,000 yen to the CanSat project.
“Thinking back to when I participated in the Satellite Design Contest, I wish a wonderful project like this had existed then. I hope all you young challengers will take on risks without fear of failure, learn a lot, and spread your wings. I’m rooting for you!”
Go for it, young challengers!
