A Long-Awaited Reunion
Since F-san, who I used to work with back in my Nissan days, was coming to Japan, we decided to have a little reunion with our former colleagues. A few people who were originally supposed to come couldn’t make it, but some unexpected faces showed up instead, which made the evening even more fun. It turns out F-san’s visit is actually a honeymoon seven years in the making! Between the pandemic and everything else, it sounds like Japan had felt like a world away for a long time.
Their itinerary apparently covers Tokyo, Nikko, Osaka, Kyoto, and even Shizuoka. Shizuoka was a bit of a surprise! Plus, their weekend plans for Nikko happen to match up with our own trip there, so we were joking about how we might just bump into each other again on the ground. The view of Tokyo Tower and the cherry blossoms at night from Roppongi Hills was absolutely stunning. Come to think of it, I’ve been so busy with one thing or another this year that I hadn’t really taken the time to properly appreciate the cherry blossoms yet.
